Ace Ventura Pet detective is a 1994 comedy movie, it spawned sequals and an animated series. It is set in the same universe as The Mask movies. 

 Ace is a private detective specializing in the retrieval of missing animals,  he has a Capuchin monkey as a pet.
If only he came with his monkey.

Preview: Robocop

Robocop

Robocop stars in the 1687 action movie also named Robocop. In the near future conservative politics has run riot and crime is out of control. A policeman killed in the line of duty is brought back form the dead as a cyborg, he is Robocop.




Robocop is the 22nd release in the Movies line of Funko pop vinyl figures.

Release date:

Robocop is due for reanimation on the 16th of May 2013.

Preview: Hannibal Lecter

The Silence of the Lambs; Hannibal Lecter

  
The Silence of the Lambs was a movie made in 1991 it is classed as a  thriller but has a lot in common with crime drama. It is based on a novel.
Hannibal Lecter is the star of the franchise, he is a wholly human monster being a psychiatrist, cannibal and serial killer.

Hannibal Lecter is going to be the 25th Figure in the Movies line of funko pop.

Release Date:

He is due to escape detention on the 16th of May 2013.

03 Michael Myers

Halloween's Michael Myers

 

Halloween (the movie) was one of the first slasher films and created a lot of the standard horror movie rules. The franchise went on to create ten movies, comics, novels, games and changed horror movies forever.

 Michael Myers is the star and killer in the Halloween movies. He is a supernatural slasher and even if killed he just keeps coming back, death seemingly being a minor inconvenience for him. He is the 3rd figure in the Funko pop Movies line.

The back of the box states "they'll thrill you!" which is appropriate because back in the day a Thriller movie was not just what you called a boring horror. 

Here is Michael Myers in all his stabby glory. He is easily recognisable by any fan of horror.

One thing that struck me was the dark brown around his eyes. At first i thought it was mistake as this was a different colour to his skin. However it is accurate to the movies as he wore dark eyeliner.

He wears his white mask and has both a cute nose and mouth.

Here we see Michaels overalls, considering his penchant for eyeliner, he doesn't seem to put much effort into his wardrobe.

Michael Myers would be caught dead without his signature weapon, the humble yet successful kitchen knife. It is shinny and silver with blood from his last victim, or it could be jam, he has to eat too you know.

Here he is a member of the big three horror giants. With Freddy Krueger on the left and Jason Vorhees on the right, a horrifying threesome to be sure.

Here we see Michael, Jason and Freddy being mean to Leatherface. Bullying and bigotry are wrong and these pops are going to be in serious trouble unless they change there evil ways.

What is Halloween: 

Halloween or Samhain is a seasonal religious holy day celebrated on the 30th of April–1st of May in the Southern Hemisphere, and as it is a seasonal festival it is celebrated on the 31st of October –1st of November in the northern hemisphere.
At Samhain the veil between this world and the spiritual world is very thin, as such it is a time to communicate, honor and pay respect to those who have died.

Preview: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

"Cowabunga dudes!"

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started off as a comic and became a popular cartoon, it spawned movies and live action series, games, toys and countless other merchandise.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe is linked with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers  franchise. 
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles follows the story of a group of mutated turtles that are tough  Ninjutsu by a humanoid rat, they live in the sewers and eat pizza, while fighting crime and villainy.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are part of the Funko pop vinyl figure Television line.

 

Donatello is named after the famous homosexual Italian sculptor Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi (Donatello for short). This humanoid turtle is the scientist, engineer and inventor of the group. In battle he uses a Bo (long staff) as his weapon.

 Raphael is named after Raffaello (Raphael) Sanzio da Urbino , who was an Italian painter and architect.

This guy is aggressive and hotheaded he launches into battle with his twin Sai (a trident like metal baton).

Michelangelo is named after the brilliant homosexual Italian architect, sculptor, poet, painter, poet, and engineer Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. He is an easy going and friendly mutant, but will fight with his Nunchaku when necessary.

Leonardo is named after the famous homosexual Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci who was an Italian painter, writer , architect, musician, anatomist, engineer, inventor, geologist, mathematician , cartographer, botanist, sculptor and all round genius. Leonardo is the leader of the turtles and has mastered the duel katana in battle.

Splinter was ether the mutated pet rat of Ninjutsu master Hamato Yoshi, or Hamato himself who has been mutated into a rat-man. He is the Sensei of the turtles and wields a walking stick in battle.

The shredder is Ninjutsu master of the Foot clan. He is enemy of Splinter and the Turtles. He usually uses his armor blades in battle.

Opinion:

As the more recent movies were um, pretty forgettable, these figures are obviously aimed at the adult collector and just bleed nostalgia. The turtle are a little same same, but they always were. Splinter looks far-out awesome and Shredder looks adorable.

 

02 Freddy Krueger

A Nightmare on Elm Street; Freddy Krueger

 

A Nightmare on Elm Street is a 

1984 slasher movie. The film went on to create a successful horror franchise, including novels, more movies, television series, comics and computer games. 

Set in the American town of Springwood.

Freddy Krueger was suspected of murdering children by the people of Springwood. They formed a mob and burned him alive. Freddy came back from the dead for revenge. He kills the townsfolk's children in there nightmares, but is capable of existing in the real world.

Freddy Krueger is the 2nd in the Movies line of Funko pop figures for adults.

This is written on the back of this figure's box as well. I find it odd... Surely Freddy will "horrify me", Freddy will "give me nightmares". But Dazzle me? What is is going to do, put on a song and dance routine? Actually that could be cool.

 Freddy is unmistakable, his Funko pop figure is obviously Freddy from A Nightmare on Elm Street.

 He wears his signature striped long sleeve top.

On his head is his dashingly fashionable hat.

His terrifying knife glove adorns his hand, and functions as his go to weapon.

 Freddys skin is well detailed and reminiscent of the character.

For size comparison we have Bicycle Girl from The Walking Dead on the left and Leonidas also from the Movies line on the right.

 
Poor Freddy travels America looking for a place to call home, and create his deadly nightmares.

01 Jason Voorhees

Friday the 13th Jason Voorhees

 

Friday the 13th was first released in 1980 and has gone on to create one of the largest slasher/horror franchises. The movie has spawned some 12 other movies, and gone to television, documentaries, comics and has become a part of the horror movie mindset. 

 Jason Vorhees is the star and villain of Friday the 13th. He is usually killed at the end of the movies by a strong female character, but is resurrected, often by electricity, at the start of the next movie.

 Jason is the first Funko pop figure in the Movies line.

Um what? Why is this on the back of the box? Am i missing some lore from the movie? I think "get him, before he gets you" or "they'll thrill you!" might have made more sense...

Jason looks adorable. He may be cute as a bloody button but remember he is a supernatural killer hell bent of revenge.

 Jason wears suitably tattered clothing. You could say he was dressed to kill, but that would be a lame joke.

Jason wears his trademark hockey mask.

The back of his head is nice and lumpy, he did get killed a lot and his head reflects this.

He holds his signature weapon, the machete, which is metallic coloured and bloody.

Don't look too hard or he will give you his crazy eye stare!

How embarrassing! I'm sure it happens more than you would imagine.

Preview: Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog 6-8

Sonic the Hedgehog is a Sega video game. The franchise is named after its main character a hedgehog named Sonic. Since then the franchise has spread to other media.

For those wondering what a Hedgehog is, it is kind of like a porcupine or echidna. 

 This is Sonic, as stated above he is a blue Hedgehog.

Miles "Tails" Prower or Tails for short is Sonic's best friend and a fox who has two tails for some reason.

 Knuckles is actually an echidna. Ge is Sonic's friendly rival.

Opinion:

These figures look pretty cool and would be a must have for any Sega or Sonic fan.
