Preview: Buffy

Buffy
The Vampire Slayer:

Funko are releasing vinyl Pop figures for the hugely popular Buffy series.

First up we have Buffy and Mr Pointy, she looks cool.I worry she may have "Daenerys syndrome"...

Oz the hot redhead werewolf, sadly without his guitar.

Willow was everyone's favorite lesbian Witch, she rocks.I hope she does not have "Daenerys syndrome".

Spike the hottest vampire on the show looks awesome.

This is supposed to be a Vampire faced chase figure, not an exclusive, i am not sure what the sticker says. He looks nice all lumpy faced.

The Gentlemen, well one of them looks suitably creepy. This character is possibly one form of inspiration for the Slenderman creepy pasta.

The other vampire, until i re-watched the show on DVD i remembered him being a minor character, brought in for the later seasons, isn't that weird.

SPOILER: Most remembered for selfishly destroying the ring that was meant for Spike and killing a whole lot of people.

Opinion:

The figures look cool, one can only assume that there will be a wave two as we don't even have the full "scooby gang" yet.

Do i still have to give spoiler warnings for a series that was aired in 1997? What is the proper spoiler etiquete here? we are sensitive to the spoiler issue in Australia as we often got shows three seasons behind the rest of the world.

Preview: True Blood

True Blood:

Funko are launching a series of True Blood vinyl pop figures to commemorate the final season of True Blood.

Sookie Stackhouse is done really well, i really like the Merlots uniform and the tray of true Blood.

Eric Northman is a bit disappointing, he looks kind of generic. I like the little fangs and the blood. He looks like a cool vampire pop but he should be taller and i don't know somehow hotter.

Alcide is more like it, very nice figure and immediately recognisable.
But oh my gods, where are the poor werewolves nipples? Is that what the last season is all about? Some villain has stolen Alcides nipples and the gang have to get them back!
A wolf Alcide might be cool also.

Pam is such a cool character, i don't know if they nailed it with this figure. I am undecided, i like the teeth and the outfit but i don't know if it screams Pam? Thoughts?

Lafayette is pretty cool, he looks very nice, I don't know what else they could have done to make a pop anymore Lafayette. I also applaud them for making another gay character pop! It can be easy for company's to bow down to bigotry and Funko has done well.
Now we need Jesus and Tara, to go with Lafayette.

Bill is a rather generic bland looking character, i wish Funko luck in making him look unique.
Bill Compton figure will be on sale a few weeks after the initial  launch.

Verdict:

I feel these are a bit hit and miss. I really want to like them, but something seems missing somehow with a few of them. Ill reserve judgement until i see them in package. Lafayette is a must by for any non-bigoted collector,  i think Sookie and Alcide will find her way onto my shelf as well.
