Prevew: Wizard of Oz wave 2

The Wizard of Oz

The wizard of Oz is a 1939 film adaptation of the children's book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz released in 1900.
Therapist Robert Hopcke is quoted as saying that "The dreary reality of Kansas implies the presence of homophobia and is contrasted with the colorful and accepting land of Oz." As such the film is seen as empowering equality and the characters defying the odds to raise above the bigotry of there world.
This is wave 2 of the Funko pop movies Wizard of Oz figure line.

Tin Man also known as Tin Woodman Originally an ordinary man by the name of Nick Chopper the Tin man used to make his living as a lumberer. The Wicked Witch of the East enchanted his axe to prevent him from marrying the Witch's servant. The enchanted axe chopped off his limbs. Each time he lost a limb, Nick Chopper replaced it with a tin one. Finally, nothing was left of him but tin. Once Nick Chopper was made entirely of tin, he was no longer able to love the girl he had fallen for as he had not replaced his heart.

Scarecrow believes he lacks a brain and desires above all else to have one. In reality, he is only two days old and merely ignorant.

"I'm afraid there's no denyin', I'm just a dandy lion."
The Cowardly Lion believes that his fear makes him inadequate. He does not understand that courage means acting in the face of fear, though he does this a lot. This figure is obviously of "brave" lion as he his wearing his medal of courage proudly.

Glinda is the most powerful sorceress in Oz, she is ruler of the Quadling Country, and the protector of Princess Ozma. Lyman Frank Baum writings make it clear that he rightly did not view witches as inherently wicked or have ant ridiculous notion of them in league with the Devil of another religion.

30 Alien

 A   L   I   E   N

Alien is an award winning 1979 science fiction horror film.
Alien spawned novels, comic books, video games, and toys, as well as the movies Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Alien vs. Predator  and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem.
Work began on an Alien prequel in 2009, which devolved into the disappointing 2012 Prometheus.

Alien is the 30th figure in the movies line of Funko pops. The artist H. R. Giger designed the Xenomorphs.

The figure is an adorable cute version of the space horror.

The bulbous head is a nice shinny black, the mouth has the secondary jaws extended ready to give kisses.

The figure is incredibly detailed as i hope these photos will demonstrate, though i will note that i thought for some time that the figure has no articulation, however the head does turn, mine was very stiff, do not turn completely around though.

Here you can see the Xenomorphs back pipes, the detail really is astounding on this figure.

The Aliens torso hand and feet are excellent, its arms are spread ready to give Xenomorphy hugs.

While i do agree it could have been longer, the tail is very well detailed and ready to penetrate the heart with its cuteness.

For size comparison we have Exclusive Blood Splatter Bicycle Girl and Leonidas.

Here Alien stands with some other horror figures from the movie range. From left to right we have Freddy Kruege,   Alien, Leatherface, Michael Myers and  Jason Voorhees.

Alien and Master chief reenact a favoured scene of theirs.

Preview: Watchmen

Watchmen

Watchman is a graphic novel created in 1986 and released by DC comics. The comic depicts a reality where super heroes fought for America in the Vietnam war.  Now costumed heroes have been outlawed and are
retired or work for the government.
In 2009 a film was released and these figures are in the movies line.

Dr Manhattan

Dr Manhattan was a scientist who gained powers over matter in an "Intrinsic Field Subtractor" accident. He could not perceive time with a linear perspective and while he retained human habits he slowly slipped away from his humanity.

My biggest issue with this figure is that it is wearing clothing and it would have been nice to have an authentic, tasteful nude Dr Manhattan. It amazes me that these pops which are designed for adult collectors can have weapons, be undead or slasher killers and that's acceptable but a nude character (in the tradition of the Greek nude sculptures) is too much.

He looks like a cool figure, pick him up, if you can get over that he hasn't been neutered by crazy censorship...

Perhaps i am wrong and those undies may be made of rubber and are removable?

Rorschach

Walter J Kovacs is  Rorschach A vigilante who wears a white mask that contains a symmetrical but constantly shifting ink blot pattern used by psychiatrists. The mask appears to be his only super power. He still fights crime despite being an outlaw. Rorschach sees things as very black and white.
Look here for an exclusive figure.

The figure looks very cool and should be a must for every psychologists desk. But unless the release a better Dr Manhattan, there isn't much point, for me, in getting this character.
